How to Submit a Poster abstract

  • The Poster abstract must be relevant to the theme of Transformation through Relationship: The Heart and Soul of Therapy.
  • Poster Abstracts are to be submitted electronically via the conference website.
  • Please ensure that you follow the relevant Abstract Guidelines, as detailed below.
  • Poster Abstracts must be submitted no later than by 5pm on 30th July 2016.
  • Poster Abstracts will be reviewed by the Conference Committee or their nominated representatives. The Committee’s decisions are final.
  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome  once the Conference Committee has made its decision.

Guidelines for Posters

  • Abstracts for Posters must relate to counselling or psychotherapy research, projects or community programs, and must be relevant to the conference theme.
  • Abstracts for Posters should be no more than 500 words and no less than 250 words, providing a brief outline of the proposed Poster.
  • The submitted Poster Abstract should include:
    • Title of your Poster
    • A succinct summary outlining the background, aims, methods, findings, conclusions and recommendations of the research, project or program, with relevant references, and a brief outline of the relevance and implications of the findings for counselling and psychotherapy and the conference theme (maximum 400 words)
    • Your qualifications and experience (maximum of 100 words)
  • When submitting an Abstract you are required to declare that:
    • You do not have any conflicts of interest that would prevent you from being a Conference presenter
    • You accept the Conference Conditions of Acceptance
  • Winning Posters: The keynote speakers will select three winning posters: best poster, highly commended and commended. The winners will be announced at the conference on Sunday 11 September 2016.

Guidelines for submission of accepted Posters

Applicants selected to present Posters should follow the Poster Guidelines when preparing their final Poster.

  • Posters are to be submitted as a laminated poster in A2 size.
  • Poster must be delivered to the Conference Secretariat at 290 Park St, Fitzroy North VIC 3068 at least 2 weeks prior to the conference.
  • When preparing Posters:
    • Do not put in too much information. If you are attending the conference, you can provide your audience with more detailed handouts.
    • Aim for 20% text, 40% graphics, 40% space.
    • Use charts, graphs and tables to illustrate your research, project or program.
    • If using photos, make sure they are high resolution.
    • Be consistent in design: Keep margins, spacing, colour, style & borders consistent.
    • Do not capitalise all of your text.
    • Edit, re-edit and proofread your poster prior to submission.
    • You can use institutional logos as appropriate.

Conditions of Acceptance

When submitting your online abstract, you will be asked to acknowledge that you have read and accept these Conditions of Acceptance.

Offers to present at the conference will be made subject to the following conditions:

  • Selected presenters do not receive free conference registration and are required to pay the applicable registration fee to attend the conference.
  • Selected presenters are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.
  • Presenters of Posters are required to prepare their Poster in accordance with the Guidelines for submission of accepted Posters.
